The project is the result of cooperation between the Faculty of Design and the Żerań Refugee Centre. The centre, where several thousand Ukrainian refugees have found care, is located in the Expo Hall in Żerań. The dignified conditions inside the building provided for them contrast with the neglected, post-industrial surroundings. The post-industrial manoeuvring area, later transformed into a gigantic car park in front of the building, is an empty, sun-baked concrete space. The arrangement and furnishing of this square introduce vegetation and various recreational, integrative and leisure functions there. The concept for the use of the square was developed as a result of workshops held with adult refugees and their children. An important objective was also to stimulate the activity and involvement of the centre's residents in the planned changes, implemented as cheaply and simply as possible. The nature-regenerated area would serve to regenerate the refugees mentally and physically. Made in collaboration with Zuzanna Mażul, Jakub Gierszewski and Karol Szymborski.
